#HAWMC post #16

Since I really have a focus on three specific issues, I created Pinboards for all three. Trying to pick 3 things in general would be too hard. At the moment, I have 3 items on each but I know I will end up with more. My three boards are Autoimmune Arthritis, Chronic Pain, and Fibromyalgia. Descriptions (except for 4RATalk) come from the respective sites.

4RATalk.com
4RATalk (www.4ratalk.com) is a support group for people affected by rheumatoid arthritis (one of the types of autoimmune arthritis diseases) as well as other types of arthritis. The group there is amazing! They are close knit, friendly, and have a good bit of info there. As a member of the mod/admin team, I am a bit prejudiced but they really are wonderfully supportive!

Show Us Your Hands
Inflammatory arthritis hands are a visible sign of the enormous strength of people who experience so much pain, that their hands are literally being pulled out of shape.

We are proud of our hands. They have endured a lot, and they will continue to endure even more.

We will never be ashamed of our hands, no matter what they look like!

World Autoimmune Arthritis Day
World Autoimmune Arthritis Day(WAAD) is aimed at bringing global  awareness while learning more about your disease and ways to manage it best.  WAAD will begin when the 1st world time zone strikes midnight and will end when the last world time zone strikes midnight of the 21st. Register NOW and receive notification of the official schedule, programs, organizations that will be involved, vendor discounts, a chance to submit YOUR OWN story for featuring during WAAD and MORE! Join us any time during May 20th, 2012 to celebrate awareness and bringing attention to the Autoimmune Arthritis Diseases!

Fibromyalgia (FM) and Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP) with Devin Starlanyl

This site describes two medical conditions which often occur together: Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain. Chronic Myofascial Pain was previously called Myofascial Pain Syndrome.

These conditions are clearly clinical disorders, and as they share symptoms with so many other disorders, are currently among the most misdiagnosed of ailments.

We hope that this information will help people get more information about these illnesses so as to better their chances of accurate diagnosis and improved therapy.

The Spoon Theory written by Christine Miserandino
This is Christine Miserandino’s personal story and analogy of what it is like to live with sickness or disability. Christine has lupus, but her story of life with disability and sickness also applies to fibromyalgia. It actually applies to chronic pain and autoimmune arthritis as well.
